From the Organist & Choirmaster

This coming Monday, April 7th at 7:00 pm, we will welcome back Dr. John Schwandt for a demonstration of the Nave’s organ. The Birmingham Chapter of the American Guild of Organists has graciously brought Dr. Schwandt to Saint Andrew’s for a second time, previously playing the organ’s dedication recital and demonstration in May of 2022.

This is an opportunity to hear about the history of the organ’s restoration by Norris and Associates as well as hearing the thought processes behind many of the individual stops the organ possesses. Unlike on Sunday where you hear many of the stops combined to create a supportive sound for congregational singing, this event will demonstrate how certain pipes sound, how they collaborate well with others, and how the chancel and gallery organs both speak together in unison to form a resilient sound.
